Victor Efosa Uwaifo (1941–2021) was an extraordinary Nigerian musician, writer, sculptor, and administrator. Fondly known as “Guitar Boy,” he was celebrated for his pioneering gold disc (Joromi) in 1965. Born on March 1, 1941, in Benin City, Uwaifo’s passion for music emerged early. He pursued higher education in Fine Arts and Sculpture, eventually earning a PhD. Uwaifo’s career spanned multiple disciplines, including music, teaching, and public service. He served as Nigeria’s first Honourable Commissioner for Arts, Culture, and Tourism. Victor passed away on August 28, 2021, leaving behind a rich legacy of cultural contributions and musical excellence.
