Prince Ekenyo Mohammed Omieh was born in Bayelsa State, specifically in the Odioma community of Brass Local Government Area. His father, the late King Cadbury George Omieh Igoni XXI, served as the Amayanabo of Odioma Kingdom.

Due to his father’s job, which required frequent relocation, Ekenyo’s early education was quite mobile. He began his primary schooling at the Township School on Moscow Road in Port Harcourt, later attending St. Peter’s Primary School in Odioma and ultimately enrolling at St. Luke’s School in Nembe, where he earned his First School Leaving Certificate.

He continued his education at Nembe National Grammar School (NNGS) and later transferred to Enitona High School in Borokiri, Port Harcourt, completing his secondary education in 1985.

Career Beginnings

Following his secondary education, Ekenyo developed a strong interest in soccer and played for the Niger Delta Basin and Rural Development Authority Football Club. However, frequent injuries led him to reconsider his path, and he shifted his focus to music and the art of being a disc jockey in Port Harcourt.

In 1986, after completing his DJ training alongside fellow students like DJ Gerere Feberisima (DJ Dreg) and DJ Jude Tabai, DJ Ekenyo landed a position as a resident DJ at Radio Rivers FM 99.1 in Port Harcourt. His vibrant mixes and impeccable skills drew a large audience, greatly enhancing the radio media landscape in the region.
