Early Life and Education
Born on May 2, 1955, in the serene Ogbolomabiri Nembe community of Bayelsa State, Moses Koriatimi Harold was destined to leave a lasting impact. His roots were deeply embedded in the Igbeta Family through his parents, Mr. Moses Damingo and Madam Ethel Moses. From an early age, Moses showed an insatiable thirst for knowledge:
- He began his educational journey at the prestigious St. Primary School in Nembe.
- After excelling in his First School Leaving Certificate, he continued at Nembe National Grammar School (1971-1975), shining in his West African Senior School Certificate (WASC).
- His quest for learning took him to the Rivers State College of Education, Port Harcourt, where he earned a National Certificate of Education (NCE) (1976-1979).
- Not stopping there, he pursued a B.Ed in Chemistry from the University of Ibadan (1982-1984).
- He rounded off his academic endeavors with multiple certificates in science, technology, and computer programs from the University of Port Harcourt (1989-1992).
Career Accomplishments
Moses’s career was a testament to his dedication to education in the Niger Delta:
- Began as a classroom teacher at Government Girls Secondary School, Nembe (1979).
- Served as a Youth Corps member (NYSC) (1979-1980).
- Returned to his alma mater, Nembe National Grammar School, teaching Chemistry (1980-1987).
- Specialized in Chemistry at Government Girls Secondary School, Harbor Road, Port Harcourt (1990-1991).
- Worked as a Supervisor at the National Teacher Institute (1987-1990).
- Held pivotal roles in the Ministry of Education, Rivers and Bayelsa States (1991-2014).
- Rose to Director of Science, Technical and Higher Education, and later Director of Primary and Teacher Education.
- Acted as the Education Trust Fund (ETF) Desk Officer (2007-2014) and served as the State Coordinator for the Junior Engineers, Technicians, and Science Programme (1997-2003).
He retired in 2013 as a full-fledged Director at Grade 17, after a stellar career in the Bayelsa State civil service.
Post-Retirement and Continued Impact
Even after retiring, Moses remained active:
- Established a bookshop in Opolo, Yenagoa.
- Appointed to the Bayelsa State Science and Technology Education Board in 2017.
He was also a proud member of professional bodies like:
- Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN)
- Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria (ICAN)
- Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM)
- Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria (ISMS)
- Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators of Nigeria (IPMAN)
- Integrated Institute of Professional Management (IIPM)
Moses earned numerous professional qualifications, including Chartered Management Practitioner and Certified Executive Leadership Professional.


Faith and Family
A devout Christian, Moses embraced faith early, becoming a prominent member of the Scripture Union (SU) and later the Greater Evangelism World Crusade (GEWC), where he was ordained as a Pastor and served on the board of trustees.
He was a loving family man, providing support and shelter to many. Married multiple times, his late wife was Mrs. Fortune Moses (nee Amangala). Known for his kindness and generosity, he extended his resources to help those in need.
Final Journey
Moses Koriatimi Harold passed away on June 22, 2023, due to cardiac arrest at his home in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. His life will be celebrated, and he will be laid to rest on November 8, 2023, in Ogbolomabiri-Nembe, Bayelsa State, with a service by the Greater Evangelism World Crusade.
